The plan to build a Dan Murphy’s liquor store near several dry Indigenous communities in Darwin has been scrapped after an independent review.
Woolworths Group had planned to build the liquor mart near Darwin airport, but in December last year announced the review after community backlash.
Concerns were raised about the potential health impact on the nearby [Aboriginal] communities.
This is of course racist, but there is still some common sense racism that is allowed to openly exist, and in modern times it started with “The Intervention” (Northern Territory Emergency Response (NTER)) in June 2007, when the federal government sent the Army into some catastrophically dysfunctional Aboriginal settlements (in NT, the only place the feds have the authority to do this), because children, including babies, were being raped, among sundry other evils going on, and cracked down on the availability of the twin evils of porn and goon in them.

A low impulse control person gets drunk, looks at pornography and gets very aroused, and then finds the nearest (usually female) human of any age with a pulse and has his way with her. Not just Aborigines, but there’s the obvious recognition that they have a particular problem here. (God willing they don’t have any access to Asian herbal aphrodisiacs as those things are utter dynamite.)
The Intervention was a Liberal government project and when Labor took over they held an inquiry into it and the inquiry concluded it was racist and should be scrapped, but the new Labor government ignored this recommendation largely (they said the policy could be extended to non-Aboriginal communities: this of course has never happened) and continued it. And your average shitlib is often on board with this kind of good racism, but a lot of these ‘Aboriginal community’ leaders do give them plenty of cover for it.
