The people who are lining up to give back their Australia Day honours, or refusing to accept them, because Margaret Court thinks in a way that most people who have ever lived on the planet thought, are a cavalcade of Australia’s finest people, our best and brightest, and the type that the Anzacs of old would have wanted in the trenches with them, and while we’ve already featured one of these towering, striding giants, journalist Kerry O’Brien, and firmly and patiently debunked the various calumnious accusations about his character that forever and for no apparent reason circle around his Trump like orange head, in this the first installment in what may turn out to be a very long series let’s look at some of the lesser known heroes in the fight for a world where getting fecal matter on your genitalia, or mouth, or any orifices and appendages you may have, during fornication is no longer viewed as a thing of primordial retching horror, but is loved by us all, including our children, and our children’s children, until the whole world is free of unwarranted hygiene concerns, and moral ones, and of course, what is the worst thing, hate.*
First up is Clara Tuck Meng Soo, a Malaysian Chinese, who lives in Canberra, and there is some general befuddlement about what sex he should be designated as, with some people believing he is male, while there is another group who think him female, but both may be wrong, and there is a third sex which they, like the author of Genesis in the Bible, and the writers of biology textbooks also, erroneously failed to consider, which is transgender children.
In Why I handed back my Order of Australia, and why Margaret Court should be stripped of hers Soo explains
She cites Genesis and its reference to “male” and “female”, but where does it ever make specific mention of transgender children?
It doesn’t, and biblical scholars do have some work to do here to get up to speed with the Current Year, and they could maybe look for inspiration to the courts, wherein such places there are justices who manage to find various implied meanings and objects in old texts that the old white men who with much gravity scribbled them forgot to mention explicitly, out of unconscious bias perhaps, or out of simply having little or no idea of the existence of LGBTQIBBQ+ folks, especially transgender children.
Authorities in the study of biology will also need to do some soul searching, and harder squinting into microscopes than they are normally willing to do (purely for OH&S reasons), as well as general questioning of the results of previous studies and researches that were grounded in hatred.
In the next installment of People Who Hate Margaret Court we’ll shine a much deserved spotlight on one holy man who is doing some needed, somewhat aligned work in the theology area.
