Safe from viruses, safe from hurtful opinions, SAFE

12 February 2021 , by Ned Bullwinkel

You almost could feel sorry for left wing people as it’s so hard for them to keep up with woke purity spiraling current fashions, and while they are not yet at the full blown communist stage of this being a life or death thing things may all just be getting started.

Readings bookshop, “Australian Book Retailer of the Year 2020”, is shitlib central in Melbourne, and perusing its front page will give you an idea of what all low to mid level regime functionaries, or wanna be functionaries, and right thinking people in general are into at the Current Time.

Only a couple of years ago Readings gave a platform to a women’s rights activist named Julie Bindel. Today, feminism is problematic for the Woke though, because some (old wretched hardline ideologue) feminists, like Bindel, are not hip with men who dress up as women fleshily inserting themselves with considerable penetrative and impudent force into female spaces, and Readings wants to now assure you that they don’t like THAT kind of feminist anymore, the ones they call radical. Radical is bad.

In a now deleted, but google cached, post, they apologised to their customers for possibly making them feel unsafe by hosting Bindel at an author talkfest in 2018:

a statement regarding THAT woman

It’s still on Twitter.

They will still consider the work of all authors, and remain diverse, within reasonable limits of course, limits that include not erasing people, not dividing anyone, not inciting violence against anyone by them having a certain opinion about something.

Purely coincidentally timing wise, it just happened to be the same day, they are now platforming this creature of the depths, but may at a later date feel forced to issue an apology about having done so:

We are honoured to be hosting an event with @junodawson in conversation with @_budgie
about Dawson's brilliant new book, What's the T?

We all deserve to feel safe when entering a bookshop. Readings no doubt has a CovidSafe plan in place to protect us from any viruses that may be circulating inside, and now they are embarking on another mission, to keep us safe from hurt feelings. They still have quite some way to go with this though, as they still sell dozens of transphobic J K Rowling books, and also (online at least) dozens of versions of a hateful work by an obscure German historical figure who suffered from a particularly virulent, inflamed form of transphobia. Give it time.
