After one recorded case (hotel quarantine worker) of Covid the entire city of Perth, population 2 million, was thrown into a snap 5 day hard lockdown, with citizens only allowed outside their dwellings for one hour a day. For the first time Perthians were also ordered to wear masks everywhere outside.
If there were any other “cases”, meaning infections, lurking about, then they are sure to have been spread far and wide as people stampeded to the supermarkets on their last day of freedom, like so:
If Mark McGowan were seriously worried about WA’s ONE positive covid case spreading, he would have allowed his contact tracers to quickly do their work instead of triggering overcrowded supermarket panic buying with his snap five-day hard lockdown.pic.twitter.com/YlNmRQ775o

West Australian Premier, Mark McGowan, with an election only six weeks away, is absolutely determined that in the intervening time before the big day no one in Perth will get sick, unless it happens in a supermarket, because very many Australian voters don’t like it if people get sick and believe that Australian elderly people have a right to live forever, and they will punish whoever is in power who lets anyone get sick.
Meanwhile on the issue of masking, in the summer heat, the authorities are very clear, like in the case of a Perth man who refused to put on the mask he was offered by police, was arrested, and then refused bail. He will now spend the next 18 days in lock-up, before his case goes to the Magistrates Court, so he can’t breathe on any one while maskless, while not infected, while not sick.
It will likely work though, and McGowan’s Labor government will be reelected, as he kept everyone safe.
