The Melbourne Age has semi kicked out its cartoonist, Michael Leunig, employed there since 1969, a Vietnam War draft dodger Christian leftist who sometimes has some very interesting things to say, in amongst a fair amount of dreck. This was the one that did for him:
Age readers are the type to go into fits of apoplexy when they encounter some pushback on the latest hot button thing that’s currently filling the God sized hole in their hearts, heads, and souls, and getting rid of Leunig is presumably a sort of business decision to keep a hold of the PEOPLE ARE DYING crowd, without which a shitlib rag is lost, presently, until these people (hopefully) come across something new to obsess about.
A lot of his stuff is dumb but herebeneatheth is a meticulously curated, hand and cherry picked selection of some of his more recent work:
He’s not totally purged from the paper though, they’re still flogging his stupid calendar, and a few of these drawings above are ripped from a plugging of his work two days ago at the Age, plus loads more here. They’re just not running his daily cartoon anymore on the Editorial page, the (cough) vaccine(s) must be respected, and whichever cocktail mixture of them you’re required to take must not be questioned.
[…] Last week I wrote about sacked cartoonist Leunig. There’s more about him from Clownworld. […]
