Masked men in caves shout ‘hail victory’

13 May 2021 , by Ned Bullwinkel

The ‘National Socialist Network’ said their camping trip to the Grampians in Victoria was to produce ‘content’ and this appears to be it:

We’re going to say that a ‘reasonable’ person’s first reaction to this is to laugh, having faith that there are actually reasonable people out there anymore. They may also be weirded out. And the “hail victory” thing should reliably induce a cringe feeling. If you find yourself wanting to shout “hail victory” (in public, do as you feel at home) then bang your head against the nearest solid object first.

A lot of the problem with it is that unlike in Europe it doesn’t come across as normal or authentic, it looks like ‘larping’, or like they’re asking for the government to change the law so that they can experience prison life (really, not just on tv/youtube).

At least in somewhere like Italy they have an organic within recent memory history of this sort of thing, plus they have some decent numbers involved, which produces social proof. And they do it not in remote caves, with covered faces, but right in the street (this year), and it’s not content, it’s organic and real:

Or Spain (old photo):

There were groups in the 1930s, almost exclusively just in NSW, the Old Guard, and its successor, the … New Guard, founded in 1931, which was bigger, but neither did any shouting of “hail victory”, they were originally simply more self consciously and stridently Protestant, monarchist-loyalist, and anti-communist than the mass of unthinking ordinary people were. The New Guard’s leader Eric Campbell took a fascist turn after he met with Oswald Mosley and Joachim von Ribbentrop in 1934, but it appears some of the membership were not on board with this and at any rate the group withered away after 1935, when it failed to make a better showing than 15% in the handful of seats it contested in a state election.

There were other, smaller, explicitly fascist groups in Sydney in the 1930s, but they went nowhere and are unknown today by all but a few and no doubt unknown to these boys in the cave video who will have a similar fate historically.
