One of Adelaide’s longest-serving and most controversial radio hosts has been sacked over comments he made about alleged rape victim Brittany Higgins.
FiveAA breakfast host David Penberthy announced that Jeremy Cordeaux’s employment had been “terminated” after Cordeaux called Ms Higgins “a silly little girl who got drunk” on his Saturday morning program.
He also said:
She should have her bottom smacked.
Britters is humourlessly relieved at the sacking, and demurely and politely declines the offer of a bottom smacking from Grandpa Jeremy, and that latter part at least is understandable:
I’m grateful to @NovaEntAU and @1395FIVEaa for standing up for the one in five Australian women who will experience sexual assault in their lifetime.
I politely disagree Mr Cordeaux. No, I do not deserve to have my “bottom smacked”. (1/2) pic.twitter.com/5MQqXWeXud

Cordeaux, in his monologue, neglected to mention that the next morning Brittany was found by a security guard asleep stark naked on a sofa:
As I opened the door, I noticed that the female was lying on her back, completely naked, on the lounge that was adjacent to the door….
The sound of the door or the breeze of the door opening has then made the female open her eyes, look at me. And then she’s rolled over onto her side.
So, therefore, my take on it was that she’s conscious. She’s breathing. She doesn’t look like she’s in distress. She’s just sleeping off her night. And with that, I shut the door, and I exited the room.
Whereas Brittany’s account last month was:
She says the man got up, leaving her on the couch in a state of undress with her cocktail dress “up around my waist” and left the building.
In any case Jezza is not backing down, mostly:
"The advice I give to my own daughter – 'do not go out and get drunk. Regardless of how well you may know the people around, do not put yourself in harm's way. Be on guard all the time, don't be a silly little girl'." – Jeremy Cordeaux doubles down on his comments. #7NEWS pic.twitter.com/ILCpGAHXmV

If you suggest women should modify their behaviour to avoid getting assaulted, or avoid getting into situations they may regret, then that’s the end of your working and public life, and it doesn’t matter about all the things you achieved, you are a terrible person and everyone hates you, or at least all these women and feminised men will hate you, and we are increasingly going to be ruled over by them – at least in public culture terms; where there is real power you’ll still find just men (evil ones).
Maybe we’ll get to the day when sackings and cancellings are not enough, and they’ll confiscate your children if you’re known to harbour and express basic common sense:
Do we need to coordinate a rescue of this guy’s daughter from his basement? https://t.co/o4l5TtqXsY
