Downstream effects of messy end of Trump Time

We don’t like to use the term mentally ill, for a lot of reasons, because as how we are tempted to use it right now, it is a slur, and there is no objective way of saying what or what not is mental illness, there are first things kind of issues with it in that how is a metaphor (mind) capable of having an “illness”, and does “illness” mean disease in its true physical expression of signs of pathology sense, and given that the term has been used by repressive regimes such as the Soviet Union, see sluggish schizophrenia, to torture and persecute dissidents, and, as always, the correct name for psychiatry is actually psychoquackery, but it is really hard not to use it in the current context.

These people are just totally unhinged and live in some kind of fantasy world, and will believe whatever narrative the mass media projects, and it’s hard not to feel that we should just separate from them into different countries. But they wouldn’t allow that.

They believe a bunch of people wandering around the capitol building unarmed doing not very much but pose for photos and sightseeing, is a holocaust denying coup attempt.

There might be a sense in which the first dill is right, when he says

We are living through another seismic shift in the world we have known

but not in the way he thinks:

meaning there may be some blowback here over all of this, as there are elements in the security apparatus in Australia who think “Qanon” and “boogaloo” are somehow relevant and dangerous here, like Julie Inman, and combined with the fact of the current inquiry into extremism, then things might start to move more rapidly. The official line that Clown World Australia takes with Qanon is that it is mostly nonsense, but people are allowed to believe in nonsense. But they are going to connect it with “coups” and violence now.

The real violence, was this young woman getting shot in the neck for no real reason, she wasn’t armed and any guard could have just shoved her aside, or backwards down the stairs. The press will mention her name in passing, one little paragraph in a long article, but not show you her photo:

If she were black her name and photo would be plastered all over the front pages.

They are more interested in things which are beyond parody, they are just outright shameless propaganda outlets:

The 6pm television news are almost on another level, it is quite impressive how they can weave so much slick distortion and moralising into just ten minutes spiel with accompanying video montage. They will more or less outright say Trump killed four people, but later get around to mentioning in passing that three of them died of heart attacks in all the excitement, and the one that the police murdered, well, she’s not black, and she’s probably a racist, like her hero Trump.

Legions of older people will still just sit there and stare at the screen and take all of this stuff in, and they consider it to be news.

In an alternate universe this is how the events could have plausibly been portrayed:

Today, as a last, doomed gasp of democratic resistance to the System regime, a crowd of mostly peaceful protesters, demonstrating against the latest “election” mysteriously won by the usual avalanche of late votes from System-controlled districts, brushed aside a thin line of security police, and peacefully occupied their own Capitol building.

Within hours, they were driven out savagely by the special strike squads. One unarmed young woman was slain in cold blood by a plainclothes agent. Tonight, all patriotic Americans will light a candle in her sacred memory, and pray for their dying nation….

There is no prospect that we will live in a world where the above is considered a legitimate way to spin the events, in our lifetimes and beyond.
